Review of Wakefield (2017) by Sarah%20 S — 16 Feb 2018
First time making a comment so forgive me if out of context! I loved this film. I love the way he dropped out of his life so completely. He made the conscious decision early on to never to help himself to facilities in his home again.
Which he sticks to. There's a certain strength to his physical commitment to his new life. Almost as if because he enjoys the voyourism and freedom, he also can't take any shortcuts in the more negative aspects this brings, like foraging for food and freezing in winter.
I think he's brought back to his old life after feeling resentment that his old love rival is back in the game. It doesn't matter how right or wrong this is. The strong feeling he has, tells him that part of him is back in normal life.
He doesn't hide from this, but meets it head on by returning home. He has no idea how he will be received but it doesn't matter anymore. He's back in normal life again.
