Review of Wakefield (2017) by Jonan G — 13 Aug 2017
Wakefield has no right to be as entertaining as it is. 100 minutes pass, while we watch a man live in an attic, poop in a bucket, and rummage in dustbins. It's a great watch.
There's a raccoon that wanders through the film, symbolising the scavenger nature of the protaginist, Wakefield. Wakefield is an awful character. He lacks resolve, he lacks courage, and is only inspired to action by jealousy and petty competitiveness. You almost think he's learning, coming to understanding; but, like the cyclical nature of the seasons he lives through, Wakefield can't help but settle back into his old self.
