Review of Wake Wood (2011) by Jason Jay L — 02 Jul 2011
Well, I finally got to see one of the "new" Hammer horror films, and surprise - despite the absence of Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, or anyone remotely related to the Hammer Films of old, Wake Wood wasn't too bad.
Yet, another variation of the Turn Of The Screw theme, try to resurrect a loved one, and bad things will happen, but the film maintained a consistent creepy feel, reminiscent of the original Wicker Man.
Aidan Gillen [duplicitous King's assistant in Game Of Thrones] does a fine job in the lead role, and this one's worth a look.
