Review of Wake Up Sid (2009) by Milind P — 15 Oct 2009
Its as juvenile and at the same time, as sweet as Sid himself. It has its moments of beauty and of silliness. But what really takes the cake is the way it avoids any sexual hint in Sid's life, even when he shares the same room and at times, the same bed with a girl, in flesh and blood.
Another thing which tired me was its visual design. I think I am just sick of these unreal beautiful images. Blame of which should ideally go to excel entertainment which has kind of set the tone of these so called ubercool films.
Wake up Sid too has a strong hangover of this trend on its production design and even music. And as for Javed Akhtar, I am sick of his lyrics. I liked Ranbir Kapoor though and its climax. It looks like somebody's first film, but in a good way.
Overall, a good film for a lazy Sunday afternoon but nothing more than that.
