Review of Wake in Fright (1971) by Rodney S — 05 Jan 2013
Crazy film about a teacher called John Grant who is trying to get to Sydney to be back with his woman but ends up getting majorly fucked up in a small town called Bundanyabba. What ensues is copious amounts of alcohol being drunk, living in filth, mixing with the local yokels, kangaroo hunting and other assorted hijinx.
Donald Pleasance is unreal as Doc, definately a standout. So called Ozploitation era of filmmaking is gritty and pretty full on but highly enjoyable viewing.
