Review of Waitress (2007) by Sarah B — 18 Mar 2009
Okay, wait for it: a saccharine, satisfyingly full and sumptuous yet bitter, sour and savoury film with little dark swirls, dollops of frothy cream, and sprinklings of sentimental sugar, all rounded off with a fruity topping.
However it is decorated with the dark garnish of truth, the poignant background of the one who made the film happen in the first place and the eccentric pie casing of the perfect Keri Russell, the handsome, rebellious and leftfield Nathan Fillion, and the quirky supporting cast.
Okay, now I've had my fill of cliches, I will say I adore this film, and all the more since I saw My Blueberry Nights and got into the fabulous, must-see Pushing Daisies...
