Review of Waitress (2007) by Chevelle H — 06 May 2009
It's like The Good Girl, except it doesn't take itself too seriously and Keri Russell doesn't walk around like a duck. And it has pies - lots and lots of really decadent pies which, more than whet the appetite, serve as one of the main storytelling devices throughout the show.
The husband is excruciatingly loutish, the fling is sufficiently yummy, and the girlfriends are wonderfully eccentric. (The guy with the poems cracked me up.) But more than anything, I loved how completely UNSENTIMENTAL Keri's character was regarding the pregnancy.
Definitely not your typical Hollywood romantic comedy.
