Review of Waitress (2007) by Nina B — 19 Aug 2009
It's too bad Adrienne Shelly was murdered before this movie was released. Well written but with what I thought were cookie cutter characters. But the cast was good and performances just okay.
Also every male figure in the film had some sort of major character flaw. It's like Shelly had it out for men and the ending was a bit too "I am woman"-ish.
It's billed as somewhat of a comedy. I think I laughed twice throughout the whole film. So be warned. It just didn't seem that funny; although Keri Russell does have a presence and she does capture her role the best of all the cast.
Not only was Shelly murdered before the film's release, she was pregnant with her daughter while coming up with the idea for the film. Knowing that may help you view this movie.
