Review of Waitress (2007) by Daniel K — 23 Sep 2009
A pretty whimsical and odd film. I'd forgotten this was the director/actress that was murdered before the film screened at Sundance. It suppose it's a pretty good message to go out with. It isn't a spectacular film, but it's quirky enough to keep it interesting.
The tone isn't exactly consistent, but it does have Andy Griffith on screen for a significant amount of time. The pies also look pretty good, as do the waitress uniforms. Russell, Hines, and Shelly make a pretty good team.
Fillion and Sisto are acceptable, but neither is really a sympathetic character. The whole film seems a bit outside of reality, which definitely gives at edge over the typical Hollywood fare.
