Review of Waitress (2007) by Andy W — 24 Nov 2009
Deliverately quirky and oddball, this film depends a lot on whether you can handle watching smalltown hicksville-drawling characters (personally, I can't abide them). The main character was reminiscant of Adrienne Shelly's character in 'Trust' (albeit slightly more sane), and it seemed as if Shelly should have been playing her (Turns out she wrote it for herself, but eventually handed the role over to Russell).
Its an okay watch, a fitting swan song for Shelly and her style of performance, but I found it all a little too quirky for its own good.
