A gorgeous little film.....
Films about small town life are made in abundance but very rarely have I seen a film that takes that concept and turns it into something that is both wrenching and funny/sweet. Whilst this is being sold as an average rom com, it is so much more than that.
At its heart Keri Russell owns this film and she totally sells Jenna's inherent goodness and the struggle that she faces in dealing with the challenges in front of her. I flat out loved her work in this film, she fills Jenna with heart and soul. Quite how she did not get any real recognition for her work here is beyond me. The supporting cast are superb also. Cheryl Hines and Adrienne Shelly are terrific as her friends and her scenes with Andy Griffith are lovely to watch.
A really lovely film centred by a truly superb performance from Keri Russell.
