Review of Waiting to Exhale (1995) by Tim C — 19 Mar 2008
Just watched this film in its entirety and this is the Steel Magnolias of the 90s and presents African-American women realistically, because they are as diverse as white women. Angela Bassett really is the heart and soul of this movie, she is the heart of the group.
Not to mention, that scene where she kicks her husband's stuff out of her house and burns it is one of the most liberating scenes I have ever scene. Loretta Devine and Whitney Houston are excellent as Bassett's best friends.
Worth watching definitely.
