Review of Waiting for "Superman" (2010) by Zac M — 17 Feb 2011
An important movie, but uncomfortable to watch for a lot of reasons. I think it convinced me some of my assumptions about public education are flawed and has forced me to re-examine the way I view teachers' unions.
I'd like to see a full length doc on Geoffrey Canada, alone - a very compelling and convincing guy. I do think this doc probably glossed over some of the macro issues at play, and the inclusion of the suburban school / student seemed forced and unnecessary.
Still, a very important film and one which will hopefully force some re-examination on a large scale as to how this country administers public education.
