Waiting for Superman is one of those documentaries that needs to be seen by every Parent, Govt. official, teacher and administrator!

It's ironic really....I've had this movie from Netflix for the last 4 days -- since the beginning of the protests in Wisconsin that have focused on the Educators. Finally had a chance to watch tonight. WHOA.

This is a pure indictment of the problems with the educational system in the United States and what it takes to solve the problem. Its an examination of the variety of "school systems" available including public schools, charter schools, parochial schools and what it takes to produce an educational system that will produce exceptional students. This is an outstanding film that is littered with facts and figures to how our current system is failing America's students. And some of these figures will make you rethink the system. They are mind blowing.

It's not about pay. It's not about teacher Unions, although it does briefly touch upon the value these Unions really bring to the table (which I might add, isnt much value at all). This is a film about our future Leaders. Its an examination of the problems that exist and possible solutions that will make America's youth the best educated individuals in the world. The U.S. educational system is in trouble. Things have changed, and yet the system follows a system based on 1950's values. This is a solvable problem, but for too many kids, a quality education is a game of chance.

I loved, loved, loved this movie! New ways of training teachers, new ways of designing schools and new ways of finding positive outcomes. Every student needs to be inspired. Every student needs to be put on a track that prepares them for college. Evey student needs the opportunity for customized education. Each is different, but the goal remains the same.

Its time to change the lives of the student and the lives of their families and that starts with the educational system.

Great schools start with Great teachers.
