Review of Waiting for "Superman" (2010) by Mark S — 08 Apr 2011
Taking a critical look at the state of American education by shadowing several families, "Waiting for Superman" isn't afraid to take on the sacred cows of education. It avoids partisan pot-shots and resists the calls for more funding.
Instead, it makes the argument that better teachers are the answer, and the teachers unions are the problem. It's a rather simplistic assessment but one that has a lot of merit. The ending drags compared to the pacing of the rest of the movie but otherwise it's worth a watch.
