Review of Waiting for "Superman" (2010) by Ted R — 24 Apr 2011
You know you have hit upon an eye opening and informative movie when you are telling people they need to see this film or people have told you that you need to see this film. This movie was overlooked and not even nominated for an Oscar purely for political reasons.
This movie puts forth an amazing examination of why our schools are both outdated and under performing. As a product of public schools, I can also testify of its inadequate and dysfunctional capacity.
This film hit home and filled in a lot of details to what I have read already. Insightful and made in a way to touch on the subject meaningfully and keeping the audiences attention. The fact that the director himself went from a promoter to a critic of public schools speaks for itself.
The kids were too cute and it broke my heart to see them struggling in failing schools. An amazing doc that every American should watch.
