Review of Waiting for "Superman" (2010) by Dave S — 03 Jul 2012
The documentary is an indictment of our failing public school system. It shows how bad teachers are not disciplined, while good teachers are left unrewarded. The teachers unions become giant entities that loom over the system, and millions of kids over the country are left with sub-par reading and math skills.
The only recourse to parents of low-income neighborhoods are entering their kids into these lotteries for a chance at getting into alternative schools. I knew our public education was pretty bad, but I didn't think it was THIS bad.
Waiting for Superman is a rewarding two hours for those who give this one a try.
