Review of Waiting for Guffman (1997) by Jason R — 31 Aug 2008
This is a great watchable movie. It is worth multiple views to see in-jokes etc. that are laced throughout the movie. Part of the reason that the movie works is that the actors are committed to their characters.
Even in scenes where one actor might not be the focus, they are still acting in the background. The documentary style works perfectly for this movie because documentaries are usually filled with "experts" that feel they must spout nuggets of wisdom everytime they open their mouth.
The characters in this movie try but fail time after time by misquoting and thinking the superficial is important.
