Review of Waiting for Guffman (1997) by John E — 02 Feb 2011
A movie that's just as funny as Best in Show but with noticeably more heart. It's pretty biting, but it never belittles the small town folks; Guest's humor is reminiscent of King of the Hill.
It pokes fun only through its observance of character quirks rather than taking the quirks and turning it against the characters to the point of denigration. Anyone who likes Guest's other work will like this movie.
