Review of Waiting for Guffman (1997) by Jillian L — 22 Jan 2012
Well, basically, this movie makes fun of the very thing I held dear through my junior and senior years of high school, community theatre. But it's done in a hilarious way that is touching at the same time.
Guest really hits on the funnier parts of community theatre, such as, doing "exercises" (although none that crazy) to get into character, first vocal rehearsals being absolute disasters, someone's dad pulling them out of the show the day of the show, going up to random people and asking them to be in it, because the cast is a few people (most likely guys) short, and really needs people.
Yep. that's community theatre. An enjoyable movie that although predictable and not laugh out loud funny, is still quite enjoyable.
