Review of Waiting for Guffman (1997) by Brian S — 22 Jun 2008
The dedication to character in this movie, like other Guest projects, is just amazing. realistic, awkward humour that makes you double-take and say "wait, did I hear that right?" just as A Mighty Wind was a brilliant hat-tip to folk music, Guffman offers an equally overdue hat-tip to community theatre.
not as funny as Mighty Wind or Spinal Tap, but it certainly possesses the mockumentary charm that exists nowhere else in cinema.
