Review of Waiting (1991) by Kyler G — 17 Jul 2013
You can feel the writer literally straining to make this as much like a Kevin Smith movie as possible. It comes off like a cheap, sad imitation with few, if any genuinely funny jokes. Self-satisfied, gross, and exaggerated to the point that any believability the filmmaker was going for is lost, Waiting is the cinematic equivalent of the cool class clown who is neither cool or funny in any way.
The two stars are for a few inspired scenes that accurately portray the food service life, and for the always amusing Ryan Reynolds.
