Review of Wait Until Dark (1967) by Stewart S — 21 Sep 2007
Based on the stage play it translates well to screen due to utterly perfect casting. Audrey Hepburn can do no wrong and is superb as a blind woman unknowingly in possession of a doll filled with drugs.
Alan Arkin is incredibly chilling as the chief tormentor, immoral and cruel, with an oily snake-like voice. Clever use of lighting in the final third ramps up the suspense to almost unbearable levels.
The music helps with the unsettling atmosphere. Just see it.
