Review of Wait Until Dark (1967) by Al M — 12 Aug 2010
Based on a play, Wait Until Dark is a taunt, stylish thriller set almost entirely in a blind woman's apartment. While her husband is away one day, three criminals attempt to retrieve a drug-filled doll that has been left in the apartment.
The three enact an elaborate series of cons upon the sweet and hapless woman played brilliantly by Audrey Hepburn. Hepburn is amazing, and Aan Arkin turns in a truly sinister performance as the legitimately twisted and evil killer hellbent upon retrieving the drugs at whatever cost.
A classic of the genre, Wait Until Dark is essential viewing for thriller and horror fans.
