Review of Wag the Dog (1997) by Erno K — 11 Jan 2009
A political satire, which sadly isn't that far from the truth.
There are some funny moments to be had by all, when a movie producer is brought on board to design a war only because the president is close to re-election and was stupid enough to harass a girl. War diverts attention from the issue, you see.
I can get behind anything that mocks politics, as I happen to think that not many things in this world is more phony and ridiculous these days. I got some good laughs from this one, but in the end I still feel there should have been something more. The movie kind of goes around doing the same thing, and for me it got boring at times. The good parts are really good, but the filling is not tasty enough for yours truly.
Nonetheless, there is plenty of biting social critique to keep me happy most of the time. Just not all the time.
