Review of Wadjda (2012) by Gabe L — 12 Oct 2013
A feel good drama about a conservative culture in motion, WADJDA is special in that not only does it push boundaries, tackling a subject that surrounds a young, rebellious Saudi girl who will do whatever it takes to gain possession of a bicycle (which is frowned upon in Saudi Arabia), it is the first Saudi Arabian film helmed by a female, and is shot entirely in its native country, where cinema as a whole is banned.
