Review of W. (2008) by Jane M — 28 Jul 2009
Silly me. I was expecting at least a sort of honest portrait of George W. Bush's life, love him or hate him. In the first few minutes of this movie, it became clear that this was not the goal of the movie.
After thirty minutes, I realized that the portrayal of "W" was as 2-dimensional as an SNL depiction. There was not a positive aspect of Bush shown once, but only a dumb, ignorant, spoiled caricature of him.
Will Ferrell could have done a better job. Oliver Stone wasted his money by just catering to what people wanted to see instead of making a good film. Everybody has a story, but his was not told in this movie.
