Review of W. (2008) by William Y — 11 Aug 2009
Subtle, wry and sharper than Condi's hairstyle. And they say America doesn't do satire (unless its animated). This is no Michael Moore-esque character assassination. You will feel sorry for the man and that is a stroke of absolute genuis.
Star studded with an unrecogniseable Thandie Newton, a sinister Richard Dreyfuss and a brilliant Toby Jones as Karl Rove, but Brolin outshines them all with a richly observed turn as Dubya himself. With such incendiary subject matter it's either laugh or cry - and did I laugh. A tour de force from Oliver Stone.
