Review of W. (2008) by Nic B — 15 Mar 2011
A wonderful cast (Brolin is outstanding, Dreyfuss, Wright, Jones and Cromwell are all excellent), a fantastic script with a smaller scope than you might think, and confident direction make this a compelling, interesting and moving drama.
It humanises George W. Bush, and by the end you may be convinced that Dubya was more a misunderstood president than a bad one, and is certainly a good man. The crisp digital cinematography of Phedon Papamichael gives the film a unique, interesting look, and the editing is terrific, cutting back and forth in time to great effect.
