Review of W. (2008) by Ryan V — 08 May 2012
Oliver Stone directs this by-the-numbers biopic of president George W. Bush. Josh Brolin plays "The Decider" as a listless and spoiled party animal who constantly feels inferior in the wake of his domineering father (James Cromwell).
W evokes sympathy when detailing the president's deep spiritual faith, but it mostly focuses on him being a stooge surrounded by powerful men who can barely restrain their contempt for him. This movie has a few interesting moments, but overall I found it to be a ploddingly executed waste of a good opportunity.
