Maybe all Ginger Rogers and James Stewart are doing is playing themselves, or their readily-acceptable movie selves. Maybe it's an extremely predictable romantic comedy. Maybe you know how it ends.
Does that make it bad? No indeed! PS, rumor has it that the leads were former lovers (Ginger was Jim's "first"). Who knows? There certainly is a nice, sexy chemistry.
