Believe it or not, I find this movie to be heartwarming. A lot of the Japanese films, even going back to Ozu deal with the difficulties of family, and in this one Miike takes it to the extreme, but the payoff is even greater because of it.
Not an easy watch, but a lot of great cinema isn't. And yes, I love it as a crazy, hillarious, gross me out film as well.
