Review of Visitor Q (2001) by Macdara C — 09 Aug 2010
Anyone familiar with the work of Takashi Miike might think they know what to expect when sitting down to watch one of his movies. Thats what I thought and I couldn't have been more wrong. Some people have said that the film is a social comentary on modern family life, and some have said its an excused to just commit as many depraved images to the screen as possible.
Personally I think they are both right. One of the highlights of this movie involves our protagonist losing control of himself and deciding to engage in a little necrophillia, only to have the corpse go into rigormortis, making it impossible for him to withdraw his penis.
Meanwhile inside the house the mans wife stands in the kitchen forcing herself to lactate all over the room while a man sits under an umbrella and watches. I love Miike's films and the way he is completely fearless in pushing boundries but I would fully inderstand anyone who couldnt sit through this movie.
