Review of Visitor Q (2001) by Shanul H — 11 Jan 2011
A bizarrely dysfunctional Japanese family--dad is a TV reporter on a break after being sodomized by interviewees on camera, mom is a heroin addict and part-time hooker, son is bullied at school and beats his mother at home--becomes even stranger and more violent after a mysterious stranger shows up in their home.
A feeble swipe at satire of reality TV shows can't hide the fact that this is the perverse Takashi Miike's most perverted movie, meant only to shock; it's closer to a well-made fetish porn video than a feature film.
Still, it's so well-crafted that it's worth confronting, if you're prepared, or too jaded to care.
