Review of Virtuosity (2014) by Nigel D — 09 Jun 2009

I remembered liking this movie as a teenager; checking it out again, how does it fair? Well, okay, but it's not great. Denzel, of course, elevates any movie he decides to do, and is predictably good here, too. But normally Russell Crowe is the same way; not really here. This is the movie that brought the man to my attention, but he's a little too over-the-top...even for a particularly over-the-top character. Give him a little credit, though; he chews the scenery up with gusto.

There's some decent action, but like almost all "futuristic" 1990s action movies, this one becomes total cheese a decade and a half later. Funny, though; "The Matrix" still fairs well. Guess you just have to do it right.
