Review of Viridiana (1962) by Jarett B — 11 Oct 2007
I was amazed to see how straightforward the narrative is. After another look, however, there is much to be said about the POV of the two male characters and Viridiana's projection from each. The surrealist elements are present, but they are just not as overt as other Bunuel.
Religion, however, seems to take a beating more so than in his other works. Of course, it is a mocking satire, but is it made to make us laugh or to make us think? The last supper scene makes me think the latter.
