It's bitter, hilarious, and sardonic like other Bunuel. The scene where the nun take off her stocking, or the parody of Da Vinci's The Last Supper would be remembered as a Canon moment in cinema history.
La bomba, as they said in Cannes Film Festival after Viridiana screening in 1961, and it got the Palme D'Or while mocked as blasphemy at the same time.
