Review of Viridiana (1962) by Mike K — 08 Jul 2008
I really couldn't love this one though I've adored everything Buñuel has done. The first minutes were something lucious and mysterious, while for the rest of the movie everything just felt so uninteresting.
.. I know it's said that it works as a social (Buñuel did it better with "Los Olvidados" anyway) and religious (Buñuel did it better with "The Milky Way" anyway) criticism, but I would have appreciated it more if the film had had more character development for Viridiana instead of just being about how the miserable servants taking advantage of her goodwill.
