Review of Violent Saturday (1955) by Trent R — 23 Aug 2008
This is as close to a Paul Thomas Anderson movie as you can get for 1955. Victor Mature wants to take his son swimming, alcoholic Richard Egan wants to bone the hot nurse in town who is being peeping tommed by the bank manager. Meanwhile 3 bank robbers come into town (Lee Marvin is one of them!) looking for the big score. Oh and Ernest Borgnine is AMISH!!!!!
Final Score: Lee Marvin kills alcoholic's wife and wounds pervy bank manager, Victor Mature shotguns 2 of the 3 bank robbers and Lee Marvin gets shived OZ style with a pitchfork by Borgnine. Good times my friend, good times for all.
Ironically, I watched this on a lazy sunday morning, not a violent saturday.
I do still confuse Victor Mature with Tyrone Power though.
