Excellent character driven, hard hitting thriller set amongst the slums of post war Liverpool. Stanley Baker is very good as a police detective, Peter Cushing superb as a priest and Anne Heywood and David McCallum as the Murphys.
Clifford Evans is thoroughly wonderful as the local headmaster.
