Review of Violent Night (2022) by Ladfromearth — 03 Dec 2022
Fun movie to watch with probably not most of the family, seriously though when I went to the movies I saw a concerning amount children. Parents do not be fooled by Christmas aesthetic this movie it is very gory, which I don’t consider a flaw but you know kids. Ok but to the actual movie, the movie itself is what I would say above average. The story although some plot holes was good. Nothing revolutionary but by no means bad. The action I overall enjoyed and was impressed how they incorporated the Santa magic and Christmas theme. The comedy was stronger in the stunts aspect but the one liners were pretty decent. Acting was overall good with the exception of the small girl in the beginning. (I will go over in nitpick section) Spoiler alert! (What I wish they explored).
There is one thing I wish that I wish was but more explored in the movie but maybe to others it was better left mysterious. I’m talking about the backstory they gave Santa. In the movie he was an ancient warrior wielding skull crusher to pillage and raid. I was hoping that the movie would explore how he turned into Santa and got his powers. Some Nitpicks, still spoilers.
In the beginning of the movie when the little girl opened her arms to scream it looked kinda robotic.
When they were doing the home alone reference there was some movie logic with the slingshot not breaking to the weight of a dumbbell heavy enough knock the women down.
The last nitpick I can think of is what happened to Sugar Plum or the woman mercenary that hacked opened the vault. Unless she was killed offscreen there’s still just a mercenary alive. I wouldn’t be surprised if I missed some others who I didn’t see die.
Overall a good movie that was worth the watch.
