Review of Village of the Damned (1995) by Jim M — 12 Aug 2009
In the tiny town of Midwich the populace blacks out for 6 hours, nine months later 9 children are born...it soon becomes apparent that these children, with the power to read and control minds, are not human...and the have an agenda that spells extinction for the human race.
Directed by John Carpenter and starring Christopher Reeve in his last film before his accident. Works effectively as a horror flick (been ages since I've seen the original so I won't bother comparing) and Carpenter's score as always helps keep the tension going. No real standouts in the acting department though Reeve's is deceint and with a better script Mark Hamill coulda been good as the local minister, as it is I kept wondering when he was gonna bust out a lightsaber. Not anyones best work, but if its on TV it'd be worth watching.
