Review of Vikingdom (2013) by Che I — 21 Sep 2013
This is not a great movie, but the noises coming from some false-gods pseudo religious cultists make it sound like a personal attack on their delusional beliefs. ***Reality check*** - IT"S FICTION! and the first part of a trilogy which has not been completed - nor has anyone outside of Asia seen it yet, not that these facts have prevented these self-serving complaints.
The movie's theme is about good vs. evil and in this part of the story the good guys are human and the bad guys aren't.
The acting is mediocre, the lead character(Dominic Purcell) could easily be replaced by a marionette, the action is pretty good (Jon Foo deserves a better role), the stunts are really well done, the special effects are wayyyy overdone and some of the set pieces (the dog-monster is a pathetic joke) look like they were made in 4th grade arts n crafts class. (Sorry 4th grade, you deserve better).
If you consider that the entire movie was filmed in the tropics (never in a million years would anyone guess that)on a low budget with some surprisingly good CGI and scenes, it might be worth watching. But audiences come to the theatre with expectations about performance and quality that this movie can't meet.
Pro - It has some good moments Con - overall though, meh.
