"The television screen is the retina of the mind's eye".
I think the gore and disturbing images(especially because of there quality) overshadow how fantastic the ideas that are on display in this film. Its surreal, prophetic, funny, shocking, disturbing and one hell of a ride. Cronenberg was light years ahead of everyone 25+ years ago and still is.
