Review of Victoria (2015) by Anders A — 30 Jul 2015
Aside from the single take aspect (it was the third take that's up on the screen); the largely improvised dialogue and the fact that the film is shot in 22 locations including a moving car, one of the best things about Victoria is how it differs from Hollywood movies where they signpost - there's something wrong with the car door in Victoria but never once does it become a lazy plot device.
I might have a soft spot for the film because it reminds me of my time in Germany - drunken rambling through the streets, late at night - but the actors are splendid, particularly playing the eponymous Victoria, and Sonne. Boxer is also good, but the other two are not much more than cyphers.
Even so, it's still a fantastic film and I'm looking forward to going to see it again on Tuesday!
If it's your first time seeing it - don't blink!
