Review of Victoria (2015) by Joan Pau R — 04 Feb 2016
This film may not be perfect, but it makes an impression. Two things are outstanding: the camera work and Laia Costa's acting. The plot is a bit shaky, with so much stupidity all round, but Victoria makes up for her idiocy with amazing cuteness and emotional intelligence, and that makes her character surprisingly convincing.
Not too bad for a Catalan pretending to be from Madrid. Not a glorious city of Berlin either, but a believable one. Definitely one to watch, and I bet it will with time come be seen as a masterpiece, even though it is only almost masterpiece, because I can hardy imagine anyone will be able to match such acting in a single shot.
