After a nightclub riot, King Marchand (James Garner) and Victoria (Julie Andrews) escaped police arrest. Hiding in a dark alley, the romantic attraction King felt towards Victoria came out - the night before, he had learned that "he" was a "she" - he exclaimed: "I don't care if you are a man" and impulsively kissed her; she breathed, "I-I'm.
.. not a man", to which he replied: "I still don't care" and they kissed again, more passionately.
