Review of Victor Frankenstein (2015) by Artur A — 04 Dec 2015
Victor Frankenstein feels like a wasted opportunity. Max Landis' intention was to give us a fresh and new take on the Mary Shelley story, but instead it ends up fizzling out by the last scene. James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe class up the whole thing, with solid performances and chemistry.
But all the built up character development and interplay is thrown for a more action heavy climax, and its not entertaining. There are no real stakes, as the movie fails to do anything too new with the familiar story.
The set design, music, and acting are in top form, but its the story that doesn't give us anything new, so its a wasted effort.
