Review of Victor Frankenstein (2015) by Ellenrebekah A — 20 May 2016
Probably one of those ideas of hmmm lets bring together two hot young actors from two truly dependable genre franchises with the X Series and Harry Potter, put them in a long revered horror staple and make it a buddy prequel led up to the big event and see what happens.
McAvoy and Radcliffe do give there best to what they have been given, and it is slightly intriguing the dynamic of making the two men equals rather than the normal Igor and Doc Frankenstien dynamic, but there is a severe lack of anything truly new to the story in the lead up to make it really worth a visit or anything close to reinvention.
Has a faint tingue of wanting to be the new Downey Jr Sherlock series just with the updating about how both characters are able to diagnose maladies which a little less of the Guy Ritchie flare. Only hard core, completists fans check this one out, and true horror fans go back into time to check out the Universal originals which are vastly superior.
