Review of Victor Frankenstein (2015) by Richard S — 12 Jun 2016
This had the feeling of Guy Ritchie's Sherlock about it. The original time period was kept in place but it was modernised with a ridiculous bromance, over stylised set pieces, complete with slo-mo running and jumping and it all seemed very unnecessary.
It doesn't follow Shelley's original work, instead the story is comprised of a mish-mash of old Hammer Horror plot threads. I wouldn't be surprised if the original intention was to turn this into some monster mash smackdown and have various other creature features cross over in the future with the Mummy and Dracula.
If you think Guy Ritchie's Sherlock is the very essence of cool and perhaps Van Helsing was a modern horror masterpiece then this is the film for you, otherwise, stay away.
